Photograph 3D, photagraph takes a new dimension

Clic clac with numerical cameras, we wind our friends and our family up in every opportunity. But if we added a little relief to those ultra-flat shots? Following the whole high-tech, numerical cameras market wants to profit from numerical photograph 3D revolution. And if this technology is today very few democratized, a few models have already been available in commerce.

Today, if we count very few numerical cameras (APN) converted to technology 3D, their number is going to explode rapidly. Putting into relief brings a sure plus to those ordinary fixed images, evoking even magical shots and animated of Harry Potter… This plus, of course, results from volume and depth, factors which with evidence modify fundamentally shots perception and propel this medium in a new era.

Moreover, APN 3D present in the market offer their stereoscopy without need to put the famous bicolour glasses, that is a true progress. At last, before being distinguished as models 3D, those devices are above all excellent compacts 2D, equipped with developed functions and sold expensive enough for the moment. A statement especially as annoying that they are not without defects…

Different constructors of numerical cameras comprehend each one in their manner numerical photograph 3D. Fujifilm was the first to suggest a APN 3D, FinePix Real 3D W1. To do it, the maker proceeded in a classic manner: two optics instead of one, separate by a space corresponding to the gap between eyes, and a specific screen. Probative result but limited, so much at visual level properly said as that of shot or advanced regulations.

Its successor and not its substitute, FinePix Real 3D W3 repeats the same double optic system, but improves screen and processor and adds video in relief. Appeared recently, Sony DSC-WX5 and Sony DSC-TX9 are not equipped with a simple optic and so no automatic 3D shot. So they demand a manual scanning of subject. Processor recomposes then image to add it famous «third dimension ». This recourse results a tiny bit aleatory, but can permit to obtain beautiful rendering in relief, and that, at least cost. Of course obtained stereoscopic shots can be viewed on receiver 3D.

Let’s finish with Minox constructor, who presented when Photokina 2010 show in Cologne the PX3D, APN 3D, with more original technology. This one registers three-dimensional shots thanks to four sensors aligned vertically. It permits as his competitors to watch, then, without glasses but equally without need of screen specifically 3D, that it results a first. Minox PX3D will be commercialized current 2011, for a tariff which is announced steep.

Fujifilm was thought as a precursor. Commercialized from 2009, its W1 permits to realize photographs 3D through it double sensor CCD of 10 Mpxl and it optical zoom 3x, synchronized images by processor RP on screen 3D 2.8 inches. Equipped with a pile of assistances (burst mode, faces detection…), FinePix Real 3D W1 remains even expensive. Around 400 €

Appeared last summer, FinePix Real 3D W3 above all, looks for improving W1. Its screen LCD is bigger (3.5 inches), its connectic develops with an output HDMI to view spots on screen 3D, its processor is more powerful nad videos are now in 3D. Only its size and its weight were decreased. Concerning its price, it follows technological inflation… About 450 €

Without installing the true technology 3D, Sony DSC-WX5 offers a relief rendering to images. This treatment requires taking spots in panorama mode by scanning, before gazing at the result on screen 3D. This functionality at the crossroads of technologies is applied on a APN 2D technologically very well equipped: 12.2 Mpxl, video Full HD 1080i, objective big angle 24 mm... about 300 €

Commercialized at the same time as Sony DSC-WX5, Sony DSC-TX9 repeats fundamental characteristics of its little brother. Small, because this APN 3D is a little bigger and heavier. This stoutness permits to dote of a more spacious screen LCD (3.5 inches) and above all tactile, guarantees of better legibility of images and of simplified working. Fatally, price feels this effect of those improvements. About 370 €

Less known than Sony or Fujifilm, Minox has already uncovered this photograph 3D solution very innovating. Equipped with four optics capturing images under different angles with 5 Mpxl resolution, this APN offers possibility to view those shots 3D without specific peripherals. To retranscribe the effect 3D, the Minox PX3D is equipped with four photographs modules including an objective and a sensor of five megapixels. Thanks to this assembly, the device can realize 4 spots on 4 different plans, that it is able to restore to format Jpeg, habitual or with a rendering 3D. Those photographs 3D need not a special dispositive (TV LCD, photograph frame, projector and smartphone). Towards photograph impression, we have no information on 3D rendering. Minox PX3D should be suggested for the second trimester 2011 and around 500 €. Extremely compact and absolutely design, it shout put for sales during summer 2011. About 500 €
